Raised in Agoura Hills

I moved to Agoura before it even became the incorporated city of Agoura Hills. In the greenbelt behind our house, there were sheep that used to come right up to our back gate before the shepherd and dogs called them away. I rode my bike on dirt lots that would later become houses, played on swings from trees above Medea Creek and enjoyed Pony Express Days on Thousand Oaks Blvd. before it connected our town together. I am a product of our Las Virgenes Schools and a proud graduate of Agoura High School.

Education, PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE and Adventure

As a young adult, I set off for higher education at Northwestern University, where I dual-majored in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences and Economics. After graduation and some work experience as a financial analyst in Chicago, I wanted to be fluent in a second language, so I moved to Ecuador for nearly three years where I learned Spanish, had amazing travels, and survived bouts with malaria, dengue fever and cholera! The happy ending of living in Ecuador was that I met my husband Fabricio and we have been married for 30 years. We returned to Southern California where I continued my professional career as a project manager with companies such as Reuters and J.D. Power and Associates, later transitioning to public service with the California State Senate and Assembly.

Family Life

Fabricio and I knew we wanted to raise our family in Agoura Hills, close to my parents. Our three children have grown up with the same opportunities that I had: quality education, safe neighborhoods with the best of friends, and an appreciation of the outdoors. Amanda is a graduate of Agoura High School’s International Baccalaureate (IB) program and recently obtained her post-graduate degree in Geospacial Intelligence from the University of Maryland. Isabelle, also an Agoura High IB alum, is an accomplished equestrian who graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Wildlife and Conservation Biology. Marcus, an award-winning jazz pianist, graduated from Agoura High School and is studying Environmental Science at the University of Michigan. He also makes a mean sourdough loaf.

Hobbies, Interests and Fun Facts

Pi.JPG

An avid hiker, I've traversed nearly every trail in the Santa Monica Mountains. I’ve climbed Ladyface Mountain many times, have completed the beautiful 65-mile Backbone Trail, and boast nearly 4,000 “finds” as a geocacher. I love watching international football (soccer), enjoy doing daily crossword puzzles, and - for fun - can recite the number “pi” to 50 digits (try me).
